The Five Love Languages
If you haven’t read this book, you need to. It can turn around any relationship, and even if you think you and your partner communicate well, you should still read this. The whole premise is that there are 5 primary love languages and everybody has one primary language and one secondary. Some people (like me) may even be trilingual. These languages are the way you SPEAK love. Meaning that if your primary love language is Quality Time, your partner needs to GIVE you quality time in order for you to feel love.
My mom bought me this book for my birthday and already my boyfriend and I have read some of it and already we have increased our communication and understanding. When he knows that his Acts of Service don’t particularly spell out LOVE to me, he knows he needs to give me lots of Words of Affirmation.
I highly recommend this relationship book to anyone…whether you’ve been dating one year or been married ten. It’s the kind of thing that we should have learned in school or been taught at a young age, but we aren’t. This is the solution…it’s literally the “class” that teaches you how to be in a relationship.
I love it and the more I understand my OWN love language and my partners, the more successful I’ll be at giving love and receiving it. Give it a try!
